Position: Support Engineer
Qualification: BEng in Electrical/Controls/Marine Engineering or similar
Location: Remote/Hybrid
Hours of work: 9:00-5:30 across seven days. This role will include regular weekend work.
About XOCEAN
XOCEAN is an ocean data company – we collect data for clients ranging from mapping the seabed to monitoring the environment. However, we do this differently - instead of using conventional crewed survey ships, we have developed a marine robotic system known as an Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV).
Overview
This role will see the candidate build up an in-depth knowledge on XOCEAN’s USV design and operation. The support engineer will provide key analysis of USV technical and operational data to ensure continued safe, efficient and reliable USV operations.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
The role will be wide and varied. Responsibilities will include:
- Developing a deep understanding of XOCEAN’s technology, work practices and operations and develop pro-active measures to maximise fleet availability, reliability and productivity.
- Assist the development of XOCEAN’s technical documentation.
- Assist the development of XOCEAN’s testing and quality documentation
- Providing technical support to XOCEAN’s fleet of USVs.
- Performing USV system health checks on XOCEAN’s fleet of USVs in support of USV readiness and reliability.
- Contribute to XOCEAN’s reliability activities – RCA, CAPA, Design & Implementation.
- Analysing USV performance and operational data in support of engineering development
- Working with engineering and R&D teams to optimise USV design and roll-out of design changes.
Requirements: Essential Skills / Attributes and Experience
- BEng in Electrical/Controls/Marine Engineering or similar level experience.
- Troubleshooting/Fault Finding experience
- Ability to think clearly in high pressure situations.
- Ability to seek innovative solutions.
- Enthusiastic, positive, and proactive nature with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentational and team working skills.
Desirable Experience
- Hands-on electrical/control panel wiring experience.
- PLC Code & SCADA development experience.
- USV engineering experience.
- Marine operations experience.
